The Architecture Day at Form/Design Center in Malmö, Sweden
Talk about architecture of the future and responsibility
There is broad agreement that the construction of the future must be sustainable – but how should we build, with which materials, and what is the architect's responsibility? How is the architect's role as an engine of change changing?
The challenges in the construction industry are obvious: construction companies together account for around 40 percent of global CO2 emissions. And the majority of a building's climate impact comes from building materials, construction and demolition. The good news is that something can be done about it!
The talk at The Architecture Day is organised by SUSTAINORDIC – Sustainable Construction Materials and Architecture, which is part of the Nordic Council of Ministers initiative, Nordic Sustainable Construction. The goal is to gather knowledge and input on how we can accelerate the transformation processes in construction, especially with a focus on bio-based material choices and future architecture. The results will both be presented in connection with the UIA congress in Copenhagen 2023 and will ultimately be gathered for concrete recommendations to the Nordic Council of Ministers.
